Kiwisport (Shot Put)

IALT: position the placing of a shot put.


Today at 9:40 we had to go to Kiwi sport. When we got walked down to the field we Coach Allen and Coach Kelly was waiting for us. While we all were listening to Coach Allen he said we are going to play Dodge ball for our warm up game.

After playing dodge ball we had to put ourselves into 1 group of 3 people. It was Me,Nesi and Sana, when we were in our groups we got given a soccer ball and we had to throw it like a shot put to each other.

To throw a a shot put we had to put it in our finger tips and put it in between our neck and chin. Then we had to bring the soccer balls in and then everyone was kicking the Soccer balls high in the air and then they caught it and put it in the bag. Then the instructor (Coach Allen) showed us how to position the shot put. Then we had to throw the shot put as far as we can.

I partnered up with Sana because we only had 1 shot put in a pair. When I had a go it went far enough as I thought it will go. But when I saw Sana throw it,it was good, Her positioning was on point. Then we had to put the light shot puts back into the bag and head off to class.

What I found challenging was throwing the shot put  ball because it was quite heavy to throw the shot put. What I learned was that the shot put was green and it was light. And I knew that there was wet sand in it because the shot out was very light for a real 1. What I enjoyed was learning how to position myself while throwing a shot put because I never knew how to throw 1 until today. My next steps are is to try and practice with a tennis ball in my own time so I can be good at when I older and be like Valerie Adams.

House Meetings

IALT:Learn new chants made by seniors in our house meetings.

Yesterday after our trip from Te tuhi we had to pack up our class and get ready to go to our house meetings. If yous dont know what house meetings are it is your group you got put in for athletics when you start school.

 There are 4 teams and they are named after roads and places near the war area and they are Alamein (Yellow Team),Tripoli(Blue Team),Benghazi(Green Team) and My team Tobruk(Red Team). When we were at our house team we had 3 new chants we had to learn by Friday because friday is our athletics day.

Im not gonna share our chants on my blog yet because I'm gonna do an after experience blog and show yous the chants. When we were practicing our chants we had to say all the way from the beginning until it was time for us to go home.

What I found challenging was learning the new chants because they are new and I am not a fast learner. WHat I enjoyed was having a good time with the seniors that was in my group. What my next steps are is to try and get access on the netbook at home and learn it at home.

Te Tuhi Reflection

IALT: Reflect on what I learned at the Te tuhi art gallery session

Yesterday we went to the Te Tuhi art gallery to have our last session about Collages,Posters and Storytelling. In the Middle block we waited for Room 10 to comeback from the Te Tuhi trip because  we go when they come back. When they came back it was our turn to go to the Te Tuhi art gallery. When we arrived we went into the waiting spot where we wait for Salome(our instructor). When Salome came we went to the Te Tuhi auditorium and because we had to do a play and everyone had to be in a group of 4 but some were in a group of 4,5 and 6. But for our play we had only 4 people,3 girls(Losana,Akanesi and Me) and 1 boy Falakiko. But for our play we did Sunday school and the Title was The life of a Tongan Christian. Here is the video of our play.


After because in the auditorium we went into the workshop/art room and had to make a poster about our role play. Here is that posters that class mates created to our roleplay...


We were in there for about 1/2 hours making posters. AFter we had to clean up and come back to school so we can go to our house meetings.

What I found challenging was making the poster because I didnt know what to do to for the poster so I just copied Nesi. What I enjoyed was working and making the play with Sana,Kiko and Nesi. What my next steps are is to try and make the poster stand out more. What I learned from the Te Tuhi experience was that posters are in the public.

+Maths+

IALT:Work on my basic facts so it can help me when I go to college.

Today after our fitness session outside we came back into class and had to to our Maths. When I came back from the staff room I came and got the Subtraction Basic Facts worksheet from the Islander Maths group basket. I didn't do all of it because it was time for us to blog and I was mostly talking and playing the Subtraction Flash cards with Losana and Leilani. My next steps would be to not talk that much because I dont finish my task and it interferes with my learning.


What I found challenging was thinking about the question and answering it as fast as I can. It was challenging for me because I dont really work on my Subtraction only my Multiplication and Addition facts. What I could work on next is to try work on my Subtraction basic facts. What I enjoyed was playing the flash cards with Losana and Leilani. The flash cards we used to play with were Multiplication and Subtraction ones.

Writing

WALT: understand the purpose for explanation writing
So last week we had a session on Explanation writing. If yous dont know what explanation writing is it is when you have to explain what you're writing about. The task we had to do was that we had to write about something in the community and then do a S.E.E structure about it and have 3 paragraphs.

What u need in a Explanation writing is...

  1. Title
  2. Introduction
  3. Paragraph 1,2 and 3
  4. Conclusion

In the Explanation Writing Document I was writing about The House of Jesus. What I wrote about is The miracles he gave people, How he feed over 500 people,how he turned water into wine, how people pray to him and when he answers our prayers. After writing all of those paras  I had to find examples to back my statement. Then I was told to blog.

I haven't finished my writing but when im finished I will surely blog about it. What I found challenging was writing the examples because I think some of them didn't make sense so I changed it. What I enjoyed was nearly finishing. What I need to work on is coming up with some more ideas so if I finish this doc I could make another 1.

Kiwi Can Jam

IALT:Reflect what I learned during our Kiwi Can Jam Practices.

Today and the last week of Term 3 was so cool because we just got put in to the Kiwi Can Jam Performance. The Kiwi can jam Performance is when you create something and then show it at the Performance NIght. What Miss Lily created was a Dance and a A song that was already made. The song was called Hold on, Change is coming and the song we are dancing to is by Chris brown and it is called Gimme and the other song is Im the one by Dj Khaled. How the routine goes is that  Me,Nesi and Losana are SInging the Hold on Song and then the others girls are gonna do a dance to I'm the one and then we are gonna combine and dance to the Gimme That. After we all went through the whole routine we had to do it more times so we could get use to is

What I found challenging was learning the song because I have never heard that song before. What I enjoyed was that we had funny time when we cake it.

Wednesday reflection

IALT:pick a hobby and deeply think about it

Wednesday morning just before 9:30 we had to work on our Ako presentation. For the Ako presenting afternoon. We had to pick a hobby we like and we had to work with a classmate and I wanted to work with Losana. What Losana and I picked for our Ako presenting afternoon hobby was Music/ Singing. In the presentation it talks about what makes us, us and who our inspirations are,Who can support us to guide us there and More. It took us 2 and a Half days to finish this presentation. But Wednesday afternoon was when we presented to the whanau and teachers who came to see our classroom. Losana and I came late to class because we lost track of the time. When we got in the classroom Ms Komor was calling our name to give us our name tag.When we got our name tag we went to our station and had to wait for the whanau to come and ask what we picked for our topic. After all of the whanau/teachers who came only 1 parent and 1 teacher came then we had to get our bags and go home.
What I found challenging was having a little bit of time to finish the whole presentation with my partner because there are 14 slides in the presentation. What I enjoyed was working with Losana because I always work with her in other presentations.

Cybersmarts

IAL: how to create a code and leaern new things

Today in the morning block Mrs Shearing came into my class to have our last Cybersmart lesson for this term. But in today's lesson we had a lesson about HTML. HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. HTML describes the structure of the webpage, what text, images or links are on the page. She gave us this work because she was working with Year 12's at Tamaki College and she asked if my class could do it and the Year 12's said no because its was quite hard for them.

While we were doing this work we were asked to go on the site where we are doing the HTML thing and we had to learn codes and new things. The site is called Codepen.io. We had to do what Mrs shearing wanted us to do and that was to learn how to type a code and it would come up with it. After putting some codes on and  colours on the codepen.io site we had to save everything that is on the top right hand corner of the screen. Then we had to close our netbooks because it was time for us to pack up and get ready to go and get ready and go and have our morning tea and then come back up because we had to go swimming after that.

What I found challenging was that I didn't understand what the codes were until I went on the site and looked at all the codes. What I enjoyed was that I learned how to make a code.

Morning Block

IALT: talk about what I did in the morning block.

Today in the first block we had to work on our hobbies presentation that we are presenting on Wednesday next week. We are preparing because on Wednesday because we are showing our parent what we have learnt around hobbies. I am working with Losana and we are talking about the hobby music. Music has always been a part of me. I go to church and I sing apart of a choir. I also sing at school as a former member of the school band which was fun! When I was doing this I was lost a little bit. I wasn't sure at first but then I read Losana's one and I was inspired by it. Our presentation is not finished yet but I am looking forward to seeing my family on Wednesday! I hope to make them proud.

Now I am working on my work in the middle block. I want to properly finish and blog my hobbies presentation. I think it is very fun to talk about something I like to do. Music is apart of who I am. I love to sing and express myself. I think it helps to keep me healthy with my Whare Tapa Wha too.


What I found challenging was that the class started before us! And now me and Losana have to try and keep up with the classroom. But I believe that we can do it!

Technology Reflection

IALT: not cut out inside corners whaile cutting out glass.

Today I came late to school but still went to Technology. While we were still traveling to the destination we were singing songs. While we arrived we had to go and stand in our groups. Then when we were all in our groups we all went to our Technology classes. I am in Mr Grundy's class and he is doing glass work this term. When we went into the class and sat at our tables I sat with Irys,Aja and Cerenity. Then we got given our Papers we worked on and we had to carry on with our drawing. For this class we are working with Glass. With glass we are making things with straight lines. I drawed 6 drawing's and we only had to pick 1 so I picked my cross design and it is all blue. Then we got given a publish paper to publish our work on. I published my work on the paper and my drawing was very big. The colour of my Big Cross is a Dark blue and Light blue. After drawing it on to the paper it was just in time for us to pack up and go to the bus and go back to school.


What I found challenging was drawing the cross because it was big and I had to get all the lines the same. What I enjoyed was working with my class mates because this is the only time I work with these much people.

Tongan Language Week Reflection

IALT: Reflect about what I learned in the Tongan Language assemble

Last week was Tongan language week and TPS celebrated Tongan Language week on Thursday. On Thursday we were supposed to have a tournament but it was only the year 5&6 boys who went to the tournament. The year 5,6,7 and 8 girls rippa is next term and the Year 7&8 boys. After we found out our tournament is next term we went back up to class to get ready for Technology. When we came back from Technology Losana and I went and got change into mufti. My mufti outfit was All black and is was Short and a jumper. After getting ready we went outside and went and played with the younger students and they were Kitione and Opeti. Then morning tea finished and we had to go to Miss Aireen because we had assembly and we had to set up so we went down and set up. When we got down their there was already tapa cloths set up on the stage and things that were displayed like a Kiekie. A Kiekie is a type of clothes that you would have to were at a certain age while at church. After setting up everything all the classes came down and we started our assembly. We had presentation's from each class and from my class we presented our Ancestor Poems and the student from my class who presented was Toma,Falakiko, Metui and Akanesi. After all the presenters presented we had performances from the Tongan Group. It was the the little kids that were in the Tongan group and then Lydia and Akanesi then Non Pasifikan Teachers. The Non Pasifikan Teacher probably had a week in practice and did really good. When the teachers went up the boys went up and dance at the back of them.



Then other students came up to the stage then nearly half of the school went on stage and danced. After that it was time for us to go to class and wait for Mrs Kelly to call out all the classes to go to the hall and wait. So they went up to class while the Student Leader stayed in the hall and helped the teachers and parents prepare of the food. So all the student helpers went to Room 4 and had to get all the food and put it in a buffet order and then give out forks and bowls. Then Lunchtime went or for 2 hours and 30 minutes When the bell rang for us to go to class all the student councils stayed and had to clean up. After the clean up we went and picked up rubbish then too the big blue bins to the back. Then we went back to class and it was time for us to pack up the class and do the karakia and then go home.

What I found challenging was picking up rubbish because there were a lot of rubbish but the blue bins were near the hall. What I enjoyed was sitting in the corridor with mates from class because it was fun.

WALT:Find fractions of a set using multiplication and division.

Today for maths we were talking about what our basic facts are. But in today lesson we were talking about Fractions. In the fractions task we did equations like 3/9 of 45 and 2/5 of 30. The first equation we worked on in a group was 3/9 of 30. How we solved this was to figure out what 1/9 of 30 is 6 and the we doubled the equation it would be 1/9 of 30 is 12 so that how we got the answer. Then next equation was 2/5 of 30. So we figured out that 1/5 of 30 is 5 so if we repeat the equation 2 more times it would give us 3 fives so we add all the answers from all the equations it equals 15 so it would be 3 x 5=15. After that we talked about what we learned. Then we got told to put or netbooks away and get ready for Morning Tea.

What I found challenging was figuring out the answer because I didnt know what the answer was until Akanesi told me and explained how she got the answer. What I enjoyed was that everyone participated in the task.

Career Program with Miss Aireen

IALT: define what Qualities means

Today Room 9 went to Room 10 to have a session with Miss Aireen about Careers. In today's session we talked about Qualities. But before we got to talk about things Miss Aireen shared a Google Doc to Room 9 and 10 and we had to Make a copy before we do anything else.In the Google Doc there is 36 pages and we were on the 9th page. On the 9th page it talks about What makes us "US". There were 2 activities in this pages of the Document and it is Who or Career idol is and How I like to do things. ON the 1st task(Career Idol) I wrote about my SIster and My Father. We had to write 2 paras for each Idol. After doing that task we worked on the other task and we had to copy and paste this tick and had to paste it on to what suits us the most in the columns. Then we worked on another task and it was to work with a buddy and write down 3 things Carpenters like to do and 3 things nurses like to do. Here is what I came up with.

Working on projects with others
Then we worked on something else and we had to write why we would/would suit Nurse/Carpenter. Here is what I came up with.


Being a carpenter would not suit me because I am scared of heights so if I climb on a ladder to go up high I would be scared to come down


Being a nurse would not suit me because I am not good at communicating with others. It also wouldnt suit me because I don't really work on projects so I wouldn't  know what .


Then we had to create a DLO on what qualities mean. This is what I came up with.


Then our class had to pack up and wait for the bell to ring. While we were waiting we sang a song by R Kelly and it was Worlds Greatest. Then Miss Aireen stopped the song and said the bell is about to ring so we went to class and put our netbooks away and went and go our lunch and when to Morning Tea.

What I found challenging was working on the Qualities DLO because I forgot what qualities means so I just wrote what came to mind. What I enjoyed was working on what I would suit or not suit because I am scared of height which is said in the carpenters collum. What my nexts steps are is to try and listen and ask questions to get a better understanding.

D.A.R.E Program with Constable

IALT: Publish the work we did.

Last week Thursday and Friday and this week Monday and Tuesday Constable Teina came to Room 9 to have a session about the Dare Program. The Dare program stands for Drugs Alcohol and I dont know what the R and E stands for. In the dare program we talked about what drugs can do to you. On Friday Constable Teina came and talked to us about theses ads and what they do. 1 ad was about a rapper that is telling us to not smoke and Drink. Another was about a chicken that was shown on a magazine to make others bye the chicken or make it. But Constable Teina said that they use Hair spray to make the chicken shiney. On Monday we looked at the people who did Methamphetamine. There were people who did Meth. This man called William Bell did meth and Came to the Mount Wellington RSA and killed 3 people a 1 badly injured. I wasnt here on Tuesday but I was pretty sure that Constable Teina come in because I wasnt here.


What I enjoyed in the sessions with Constable Teina was that I didnt know that they used Hairspray to spray on that Chicken.

Technology Reflection

IALT: reflect on what I learned at technology.

Today at Technology we were with Mr Grundy. With Mr Grundy we are working with Stained glass. If yous dont know what STained glass is , Stained glass is cutting our glass and making a design with it and to put on the window. We went through rules in Technology and the rules are...

  • Dont FIddle
  • Stolls have 4 legs for a reason
  • Have closed in shoes
  • Go to the toilet before you attend Mr grundys class
  • and Stay Put.
Then we had to go to the table in the middle and we were looking at what Mr Grundy was doing. He was showing us that Red Glass is made out of gold so if we have a lot of red glass used he would talk us out of it. Then we had to go to our tables and get given a paper with 12 boxes in it and draw what we wanted to draw. Mr Grundy gave us the same papers with drawing that he has made and he said that he would like us to copy 2 or 3 of his design and 1 of our own. When we did our drawings it was nearly time for us to leave so we watched a video of Mr Grundy doing the Stained glass drawing on the paper. After the video we had to give in our papers and had to leave our stools were they are and make our way to the bus to go to school.

I learned that Red glass is expensive because it is made out of real gold.  What I found challenging was coming up with my own design because I have a lot of lines and I wanted it to be simple so im gonna go because next week and change it up. What I enjoyed was sitting with Leilani because we finish most of the work while we talk. What my next steps are is to try and think of my designs now and then ill draw it on the paper next week.

My Weekend Reflection

IALT: Reflect on what I did in the weekend.

Yesterday I woke up at 8:30 to get ready to go church. When I was ready it was 9:50 so I asked my mum to drop me off for the sunday school. When I was in sunday school we talked about how this King had a dream and he didn't know what it was about so he called smart people to tell him what his dream was about but they didnt say it. So i think the kings assistant wanted to kill every smart person so they could not tell him his dream or else he would punish them (I THINK). Then sunday school finished and we had to go and sit and get ready for the 1 hour church service. We had to sing and wait for the men's to come in before we start the service. The man that was preaching was my Cousin. He did a long preach but it wasn't an hour it was like about 45 minutes. After that we had to get put into our church groups and the groups are. Sunday Schools, and a group just higher than us and a group way higher which is all the old people are in.

We had to go in our groups because we had to sing. Everyone did 2 songs but they were long. Ana to make that even longer people were talking so that took ages. After all the songs has been sung we had to finish and then we had choir. When we were singing I was called to go home to make food for this family thing in the night time. When we were cooking food I had to go with my cousin to mangere to pick up my cousins for the family thing. We had to wait for ages and it was night time so after that we had to go straight to the house where we are doing the family thing and when we got there even more people come so then we had to pray and then eat because the food was getting could. After eating we stayed for a little bit and then we had to go home and sleep for school.


What I enjoyed was eating with family because I never really see them that much. What I found challenging was waiting for my cousins because we were waiting for ages.

🎉Happy Birthday Miss Kyla🎉

IALT:Reflect on Miss Kylas Birthday.

Today it was Miss Kylas Birthday. I dont know how old she was turning but we wrote a card for Miss Kyla on Friday to give to her on Today. On the card it had all our Birthday Wishes all Room 9 and 10's. But Today Room 9 went to ROom 10 to sing Happy Birthday to Miss Kyla. The presenters today was Frances,Losana SIale and someone else. After we sang happy birthday they gave the presents and it was time for us to go to class.

What I enjoyed was singing Happy Birthday to Miss Kyla because I haven't sang Happy Birthday in ages.
