Fitness reflection

IAL: how to do Lunges

Today after Morning tea (as always) we had Fitness. I didn't know we had a reliever in my class because when we got tot the top courts a women came down with Miss Kyla and Kelly so I asked Kelly and she said it was our teacher. Then we had to run the track. When I was running I was running with Losana. Losana and I got to the top courts before people who started before us. Then we had to get in our groups and go and do our normal routine. My group did Shuttle runs but it was to the half court line and back then to the boys corner then back. The other group did Step Ups and Squats and the other group did Lunges and Star Jumps. When our timer finished we had to go to Step ups and Squats. After that we went to do Lunges and Star Jumps. Our reliever did that routine. She told us that we had to breathe in through our noise and out through our noise and out through our mouth. My group did that but she said we had to do it gently. Then we had life lesson with our reliever doing Lunges. She said we had to do it an 90 degree angle but it was time for us to go back to class.

What I found challenging was breathing during the star jump session because I was coughing. What I enjoyed was doing the shuttle runs because I really like running. What my next steps are is to try run during our bike track running to get fitter.

Today's Reflection

IALT: share my experience with younger students

Today at 8:50 all the student councils had to go to Mrs Thompson in the office, but it was only me and Losana that sowed up. Then Mrs Thompson told us what we are doing today. Today we had Kindergartens come to our school to see what primary is all about. She told us that she needed 11 student councils today but on 2 showed up so she said that they might come later. She told us that were are going to be greeting the Kindergarten that are coming today. We greeted in the people and then had stations to do. some Kindergarten kids are going to be in Room 1 and 2 and outside doing things they do in primary. The stations we,
  • Art Station (Room 2)
  • Reading outside (Outside Room 2)
  • Obstacle courses (Outside Room 1)
  • Hand Drawing (Outside Room 11)
  • Sand Pit
Then we went into Room 2 to set up and then Miss Parks class came in. Then when we were talking and the kids did zumba Mrs. Komor came and told us that we needed to be in class by 10:15 so after that we went up to class and we had to do work.

What I found challenging was doing zumba with the kids before talking to Losana because I had a stitch because I had a lot of my drink. What my next steps are is to try not drink but eat in the morning. What I enjoyed was greeting the Kindergartens to our school because I didn't know until this morning that there would be Kindergarten coming to our school.

Fitness Reflection

IALT: Do reverse lunges

Today after morning tea we had fitness. The first bell went but the teachers didn't come because they had their photos today. Then the 2nd bell rang and we had to wait in our 3 lines and wait for the teachers.  When the teachers came we had half of group 2 go with 1 teacher and the other half with my group combined. Then we started our fitness. Some people in my group did shuttle runs,Some people did Step ups and the others did squats. The group that went before us did Reverse Lunges and Plank. When we did all our fitness we swapped and I never new how to do reverse lunges until I got told. To do Reverse Lunges we had to put our feet together and step back and let your knee almost touch the ground. Some people didn't do it so we had to restart the timer. After the timer we did Planks. I did it on my hands and my teacher said it would be easier if we spread out our legs and then I said nahh I wanted to challenge myself so I did the Planks. Then the timer was up and we had to go back and line up and go back up to class.

What I learned in today's fitness session was doing Reverse Lunges because I never new we had to almost touch our knee to the ground. What I found challenging was doing the Planks because I challenged myself to do the hard Planks. What I enjoyed was learning something new in Fitness. What my next steps are is to try learn more in Fitness.

📖📘Reading Buddy's📖📘

IALT:Read with my Reading buddy from Room 3 and ask questions about 1 book she has read.

Today after Lunch Time our class went to Room 3 for Reading Buddy's. If yous don't know what Reading Buddy's are Reading Buddy's is when you get given a younger student to read with. Today I was with Hannah, Hannah is a Female student and she is a Tongan that attends Tamaki and is in Room 3. She came with her book bag and we went to the park to read there. We got out her books and she had 9. We couldn't get through 6 but we got to read 3 books. She read the books really well but she needed help with some words and if I was to rate her Reading out of for a Year 3 or 2 I would rate her an 9.5 because she is really good at reading. Then when we finished reading the books we had to go back to Room 3,drink our milks then walk back up to class.

Some questions I asked Hannah was Who is the Main Character?,What is the book about and more. The challenges Hannah had were sounding the words out. Next Steps she should work on is sounding out words she doesn't know with a help of her parents or students at Tamaki.

🏃Fitness Reflection🏃

IALT: Do planks with my hands




Today for Fitness we went up to the top courts to have another Fitness session with Mrs. Komor and Mrs. Kyla. When we started our fitness we had to run around the bike track. I walked because I was tired . I was walking with Frances and Akanesi. When we got half way we started running and we got there before some people. When we got there we got put into our groups. So then we got put into our groups we combined with group 2 because there was only 2 teachers. In my group we did Step Ups and Squats. The other group had Inch Worms and Hand Planks. The Step Ups was challenging for me because my legs were so sore.  When we were doing the Inch Worms they were quite hard because I can't really touch my feet and as I said my legs were sore.

Then the time was up and we had to go to Mrs. Komor. With Mrs. Komor we did Star jumps and Planks. We did Star Jumps first then we had to do planks. While we were doing or planks I did it on my elbows and I didn't know if we did it on hands it will be harder so that's what I learned in this Fitness session. Then Fitness time was up and it was time to go back to class



What I found challenging was doing the hand Planks because it is quite harder while in a push up position. What I enjoyed was doing the Planks with my friends because it went harder when we started laughing. What my next steps are is to try make the Fitness Exercises harder to get a little bit fitter.

Last Kiwi Sport Session playing Basketball

WALT: Play Basketball games to improve our dribbling skills

Today at 9:40 we went down to the bottom courts to have our last Basketball session with Coach Peter and Coach Hyram. When we got down there we had to jog from 1 end of the court to the other 3 times. Then we played Golden Child. If you's don't know what Golden Child is it is when you sort your group into 2 groups, (1 group was called Cavaliers and the other was Currymuncha's).  To play the game 1 group has to stand at 1 corner and run the whole court until you get to the last corner while the other team has to shoot and if they get it in the person that's running has to stop where they are. When we played the 1st round we lost then we played 2 more and we lost the game.

Then we played Sideline Basketball. Sideline Basketball is when you sort your group into 2 teams(we stayed in the same team we were in when we were playing Golden Child) and each group has to stand behind the half court line facing the opposite direction. For example if my team was shooting to the left hoop we would stand at the back of the half court line and run to the right hoop then go grab the ball. We had to run when we calls a number for example if we had 10 players in my group he would call out any number and that much people have  to run and play Basketball. We Won that game and it was time for us to go and line up with Kelly.

The challenges I had during this lesson was getting the ball because every time I get the ball the opposite team would always take it off me so that was 1 challenge. The other challenge was shooting while played Golden Child because I was laughing hard and it was a distraction to my shooting so then I missed. My last challenge was running in Golden child because my legs were sore and I had to run to the other corner and i got there.

I had 3 best times during this session 1 of them was playing Golden child because everyone was laughing and we had good times while playing Golden child because everytime I shoot Losana and Akanesi laughs so we did it to each other. My other best time was working together while playing Sideline Basketball because everyone got the ball and passed it to everyone. And also  my best time was doing the chant at the end because we got to say Tamaki.

What I didn't like about this lesson was shooting for Golden Child because I kept on missing and I could've at least got 1 in but I didn't. I also didn't like a little bit about this session is that people keep going out of the court. WHy I didn't like this session because when someone goes out and the ref see's it they don't call it so that's what I didn't like in this session.

What I learned was to run a dribble because I don't really run and bounce the ball because I am use to playing netball.

My thoughts on this Basketball session is that we should work more as a team. My feelings on this session was happy because everyone participated in the games and warm ups. If I got to rate this session I would rate it 10. I would rate it 10 because it was a fun session and I wish we had these kinds of session before.

Matariki Word Search

IALT:Blog the create part of my work and its a word search

Yesterday Losana,Akanesi and I have created a word search about Matariki. We created a word search because in the last slide of the presentation is the create part and it was to create anything you want and we created a word search. In the word search there are basic words about Matariki. Some of the words are the 6 sisters with the 1 mother,Maori and more. Here is the word search↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓




What I found challenging was making the word search with Losana and Akanesi because it was quite hard to put it in order. What my next steps are is to try make more word search for the create part of my recording. What I enjoyed was working with my friends because I wouldn't have finished this task if it wasn't for them.

Technology Reflection

IALA: The ingredients used in Pasta Salad

Today for Technology Me and Stacey came late for Technology so we got dropped off from Mrs Fepuliai. When we arrived at Tamaki Kolisi(Tamaki College) we saw Mrs Kormor standing outside watching us. When we said Hi to Mrs Kormor we walked to our Technology class and they were standing outside. When I went over to Kelly she said that were early and that Mrs Tuipulotu had her home class. Then she let us in to put our bags/Netbooks/books away and put our aprons. Then we waited for Mrs Tuipulotu home class to finish so we can cook. Then they finished and we had to go wash our hands and get our tea towels and sit at our tables. Then we got told that we were making and we were making Pasta Salad. The ingredients we need is

  • Macaroni
  • Ham
  • Mayonaise
  • Tomato
  • Onion
and the equipment you will need is
  • Pot
  • Spoon
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board(Red&Green)
  • Bowl
  • Strainer
  • Slotted Spoon
So we had to dice the Ham,Onions and Tomato into small pieces and had to put it into our bowl. Then we put in our Macaroni into the pot and had to put water into it to boil and to be soft. Then when it was soft we had to put the strainer in the sink and pour our Macaroni in it so it can cool down and have to put water over it to cool down faster. Then we added all the ingredients all together and put Mayonnaise and stir it all together. Then we got to eat it. When we were eating the 1st Period just finished and it was 2nd period. Then we had to clean up and then walk to the bus and wait for the other technology classes to come so we can go back to our school.

What I found challenging was cutting the onions because it was going into my eyes.What my next step is to try cut the onions a different way so it doesn't go into my eyes. What I enjoyed was working with Stacey because it was more food for us.

Technology Reflection

IALT:Reflect on another Technology Session

Last week Thursday we traveled to Tamaki Kolisi(Tamaki College) to have another Technology Session with 3 Tamaki College teachers. When we got there we walked to our classes. When we got to our classes we had to do our and it was go put our netbook or books away and put our aprons on and go wash our hands and sit at our tables. When we were seated we go told to get our tea towels and dish soap. Then we got told what we were making and we were making mini quiche. Here are the Ingredients and Equipment you will need...

Equipment:

  • Big Bowl
  • Medium Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Desert Spoon
  • Red Plastic scraper
  • Muffintray
  • Chopping board
  • Knife



Wet Ingredients:
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Cup of milk and whisk together.

Pastry:
  • 1 Pastry
  • Cut into 12 Pieces
  • Put into sprayed muffin tray

Ham:
  • Dice the Ham into small pieces
Cheese:
  • Grade the cheese


Then we combined them altogether and put it the oven for 15 minutes. When 15 minutes was over it didn't look cooked but then we asked 1 of our classmates and  she said to take it out when the brown so we took it out and had to wait for it to cool down. It was quite hard to take out of the muffin tray because we didn't use baking paper on it so it was sticking to the muffin tray. When we finally took it out of the tray and ate some and it was so yum so I saved some to give to 1 of my friends. When we finished eating we had to clean up and wait behind our chairs to walk back to the bus and travel back to school.

What I found challenging was not knowing when it will be cooked because I haven quite made Quiche. What I enjoyed was eating the Quiche because it was so nice. What my next steps are is to try work on when its cooked.

Screencastify Sugary Drinks

IALT: read an article,write a statement then write to examples to back up the statement.

Today Losana and I was working on our Reading task and it was to read an article,write a statement and write 2 examples to back up the statement. We got shared a DLO and it was layed out like an oreo and here is the DLO...


In this it was talking about how 2 Taranaki dairy owners combined their ideas together to not sell fizzy in the morning. 

CR Dairy in Eltham has agreed to not sell sugary drinks to students before 9am on school days.
The Northern Dairy in Stratford is supporting a public health initiative to cut school children's consumption of sugary ...


Then we asked Miss Thompson if we could go outside to make our screencastify. Here is a video of our screencastify. 


When we finished we came back inside to bog this.

What I Learned was that the 2 daries in Taranaki came up with not selling fizzy drinks in the morning. What I enjoyed was working with Losana. What I found challenging was reading the words fast challenging because if I read it fast I change the words. What my next step is to try ready slowly.

Maths Games

IALT: Reflect on what Sene,Akanesi,Losana and I have done for Maths Games today.



Today we grouped ourselves into 4 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 5. When we grouped ourselves we got told to pick 1 person to go and pick something from the maths box. We chose Akanesi and she picked the Jumbo Playing Cards.

Then we got told to pick a game we wanted to play with the Jumbo cards and we came up with one and it was to to share the cards with 2 people and then we had to put ourselves with partners and I was with Akanesi and Losana was with Sene. We then said that the Kings,Queen and Jacks were 13 and if it was with a number it will be addition. So if we put a King down and someone else puts a 10 down you would add it, and is you put number together like 10 and 3 it will be Times Tables because we wanted to play this game with Times Tables and include the Kings,Queens and Jacks. Then we had to finish and finish off work.

What I found challenging was doing my Times tables because I haven't learned some of my Times Tables in a while. What I enjoyed was playing with my friends because it was a funny game. What my next step is to try learn my Times Table during Maths Time.

Kiwi Can Reflection

IALT: Reflect on another Kiwi Can Session with Mr M and Miss Lily

Yesterday some Room 7 students and some Room 3 students joined my class and went to the hall to have another Kiwi Can Lession with Mr M and Miss Lily. When we got down there we did a Sasa. After doing the Sasa we did a energiser and it was Bop It. In Bop It there is 4 moves you had to do when the caller calls the move out. The moves are...


  • Bop it (Bend your knees then stand up straight)
  • Twist it(Move your hips like a washing machine)
  • Jump it (Jump up and down)
  • Spin it ( Spin all the way around)
Then when we were doing the activity the beat got faster and it was fast. During the fast beat I lost and then I sat down and was watching all the other students. Then Someone won but I don't know because I forgot. Then we got told to chose a girl and a boy to vs each other and it was Akanesi and Siale, Akanesi won that round and we had to pick another girl and boy, and this went on for 3 rounds. Then we sat down and we had a talk on what we are going to be talking about for Kiwi Can and we were talking about Reliability. Then after our talk we played a game for our activity and the game was Number. How the game works is that the whole class is in and when the Teacher or an adult calls out a number you had to groups yourself with the number. For example if Mr M calls out 7 we had to find 7 people. Then when everyone was out there was only 3 people and I called out 2 and then 1 got out and the game was over. Then we did our chant and walked back up to class.

What I found challenging was finding people for our group and it was hard because some students were out and there was some number we could do because there was only a little bit of us. What I learned was that Reliability means counting on someone to be there on time or counting on them to come to school. What I enjoyed was playing the Numbers game because it was funny. What my next steps are is to try learn more in Kiwi Can.

Kiwi Sport Reflection


IALT: Reflect on another Basketball Session

Yesterday Room 9 went outside to the bottom courts to have another Basketball Session. We met up with Coach Peter and another coach,Coach Yaran. Firstly we had warm up runs such as...

Then we had to get a ball and walk back to the line we came from. When we came back to the line we were asked if we knew what BEEF is in Basketball and we were like yes this is what it means...

The we got separated into 2 groups and it was Boys and Girls. When we started shooting I shot and got it in, then 2 bos came and asked if they could be in our group and Coach Peter said yes. Then when they came it started to rain and we got told to put the balls back and walk to class. When we walked to class the couches came with us and had a session in class without the balls. We were also talking about celebrity Basketball players Coach Yaran has met and he said that he met Steven Adams. He told us a story that he heard about Steven Adams and he said that he had a million dolar contract and he said that the reporters asked him what he did with the money and Steven Adams said that he brought a new phone. After that we asked questions and it was time to for our lesson to finish and it was time for them to go. When they left we had to finish off work we didn't finish. What I learn in yesterdays session was the positions in Basketball

What I found challenging was shooting because I could shoot straight that much. What I enjoyed was learning the different positions in Basketball. What my next steps are to try work out how to shoot straight into the hoop.
