D.A.R.E Program with Constable

IALT: Publish the work we did.

Last week Thursday and Friday and this week Monday and Tuesday Constable Teina came to Room 9 to have a session about the Dare Program. The Dare program stands for Drugs Alcohol and I dont know what the R and E stands for. In the dare program we talked about what drugs can do to you. On Friday Constable Teina came and talked to us about theses ads and what they do. 1 ad was about a rapper that is telling us to not smoke and Drink. Another was about a chicken that was shown on a magazine to make others bye the chicken or make it. But Constable Teina said that they use Hair spray to make the chicken shiney. On Monday we looked at the people who did Methamphetamine. There were people who did Meth. This man called William Bell did meth and Came to the Mount Wellington RSA and killed 3 people a 1 badly injured. I wasnt here on Tuesday but I was pretty sure that Constable Teina come in because I wasnt here.

What I enjoyed in the sessions with Constable Teina was that I didnt know that they used Hairspray to spray on that Chicken.

Technology Reflection

IALT: reflect on what I learned at technology.

Today at Technology we were with Mr Grundy. With Mr Grundy we are working with Stained glass. If yous dont know what STained glass is , Stained glass is cutting our glass and making a design with it and to put on the window. We went through rules in Technology and the rules are...

• Dont FIddle
• Stolls have 4 legs for a reason
• Have closed in shoes
• Go to the toilet before you attend Mr grundys class
• and Stay Put.

Then we had to go to the table in the middle and we were looking at what Mr Grundy was doing. He was showing us that Red Glass is made out of gold so if we have a lot of red glass used he would talk us out of it. Then we had to go to our tables and get given a paper with 12 boxes in it and draw what we wanted to draw. Mr Grundy gave us the same papers with drawing that he has made and he said that he would like us to copy 2 or 3 of his design and 1 of our own. When we did our drawings it was nearly time for us to leave so we watched a video of Mr Grundy doing the Stained glass drawing on the paper. After the video we had to give in our papers and had to leave our stools were they are and make our way to the bus to go to school.

I learned that Red glass is expensive because it is made out of real gold.  What I found challenging was coming up with my own design because I have a lot of lines and I wanted it to be simple so im gonna go because next week and change it up. What I enjoyed was sitting with Leilani because we finish most of the work while we talk. What my next steps are is to try and think of my designs now and then ill draw it on the paper next week.

My Weekend Reflection

IALT: Reflect on what I did in the weekend.

Yesterday I woke up at 8:30 to get ready to go church. When I was ready it was 9:50 so I asked my mum to drop me off for the sunday school. When I was in sunday school we talked about how this King had a dream and he didn't know what it was about so he called smart people to tell him what his dream was about but they didnt say it. So i think the kings assistant wanted to kill every smart person so they could not tell him his dream or else he would punish them (I THINK). Then sunday school finished and we had to go and sit and get ready for the 1 hour church service. We had to sing and wait for the men's to come in before we start the service. The man that was preaching was my Cousin. He did a long preach but it wasn't an hour it was like about 45 minutes. After that we had to get put into our church groups and the groups are. Sunday Schools, and a group just higher than us and a group way higher which is all the old people are in.

We had to go in our groups because we had to sing. Everyone did 2 songs but they were long. Ana to make that even longer people were talking so that took ages. After all the songs has been sung we had to finish and then we had choir. When we were singing I was called to go home to make food for this family thing in the night time. When we were cooking food I had to go with my cousin to mangere to pick up my cousins for the family thing. We had to wait for ages and it was night time so after that we had to go straight to the house where we are doing the family thing and when we got there even more people come so then we had to pray and then eat because the food was getting could. After eating we stayed for a little bit and then we had to go home and sleep for school.


What I enjoyed was eating with family because I never really see them that much. What I found challenging was waiting for my cousins because we were waiting for ages.

🎉Happy Birthday Miss Kyla🎉

IALT:Reflect on Miss Kylas Birthday.

Today it was Miss Kylas Birthday. I dont know how old she was turning but we wrote a card for Miss Kyla on Friday to give to her on Today. On the card it had all our Birthday Wishes all Room 9 and 10's. But Today Room 9 went to ROom 10 to sing Happy Birthday to Miss Kyla. The presenters today was Frances,Losana SIale and someone else. After we sang happy birthday they gave the presents and it was time for us to go to class.

What I enjoyed was singing Happy Birthday to Miss Kyla because I haven't sang Happy Birthday in ages.

➖Maths Reflection➖

WALT - practice our basic facts knowledge to solve number problems.

Today I got a task from the Islander maths tray and it was to work on a worksheet and subtract numbers. There is 4 rows and in this worksheet going portrait ways and there is 25 in each rows so I completed 100. Then when I finished, I checked on the calculator that all of it was right.

I was very happy about it that I got all of it right, and am proud of myself so I will be buying me a big treat after school with my own money! There was only 1 bedmas equation on paper that I did and it was subtractions.

I chose this task because I still need to practice my subtraction so I can get ready for college next year so I am challenging myself with harder subtraction equations instead of solving out easy equations that I know.

What I found challenging was figuring out the division equations because that's what I struggle with the most.

My next step in Maths is to challenge myself all the time so I could think of new knowledge in my head of how to solve equations like the ones on my paper.

Student Council Leadership Program

IALT: Be confident and say my ideas.

Today after morning tea we had to go to the board room for another Leadership program with Miss Latoya. Every fortnight fridays we had Leadership Program. But in today's session we were talking about communicating to people so they can have the same picture. So what Miss Latoya means is that if you explain something you would understand and have the same picture in your head.After talking about communication we had this task we had to do and it was to find a quote and then say what it means to us. Here is the quote...

 After talking about what we did, this activity was to close our eyes and get the paper in front of us and focus on what the person is telling us what to do. So we closed our eyes and had the paper in our hand. Then we had to listen to what she said. She said we had to fold the paper 3 times,  but in my head I did know what way we had to  fold it so I folded my paper in landscape form.

After that she had to rip off 1 of the corners from the paper, I didnt know what corner she meant but I ripped off the middle of the fold on the bottom. After that she compared everyones papers and she put the in groups about which one is the same and which one is not the same. For this she had 8 thoughts and most of them looked the same. But my 1 didn't ( Haahahahahahahah). Then she asked what she needs to work on we said to be specific. Then Kenneth went to the front of the room and then did the same thing but more specific. He made us make a plane. alot looked like a plane but only some looked different. Then we had to work on a task and she said that we are going to be a Kiwi Can Leader for 1 day (I think) and have to do what the Kiwi Can does on tuesday so we have to do that. We got a script and in  my group is Me (Ana),Akanesi and Losana. After reading the script we were told that we could go up to class so we came up to class.

What I found challenging was explaining what the quote means because my friend explained what I was going to say so I had to come up with something else. What I enjoyed was working with my friends.

Technology Refection

WALT: Identify the Hygiene and Safety Hazards in the kitchen.

Yesterday at Technology we had a reliever and his name was Mr Das. When my class walked into the classroom Kitchen we had to sit in our groups and wait for him to give out the paperwork we had to do. On the paper work, the title was was Hygiene and safety Hazards. Here is a photo of 1 of the pages me and my class at Technology worked on.

When we were working on our work we were allowed to play music but quietly because he didn't want a lot of people playing loud music. It was quite hard finding the things that can hurt you in the kitchen. While we were still doing our work we played music and then we didn't know the it was time for us to pack up the lass and go to the bus and leave to school.

What I found challenging was finding the Hazards and Safety Hazards in the kitchen. What I enjoyed was working with my mates because we played music(not loud) and did our work at the same time. What my next steps are is to try finish my whole paper work.

Interviewing Mrs.Fepulea'i

WALT : Gather, Evaluate and Synthesise information

Today in the Middle Block my class was working on our Reading task. Today I interviewed my teacher that was with me today and that was Mrs Fepulea'i. The questions I asked was How did you make your passion your income?, Did you have to make any sacrifices?, and Who was your biggest support. Here is the presentation I have written all the answers for those questions.

What I found challenging was changing what Mrs Fepulea'i said into my own words because she was saying big words. What enjoyed on doing today was working on this presentation and interviewing Mrs Fepulea'i.
