My Technology Reflection

Today at Technology we made Rock cake with decorations like Whip cream and Chocolate Syrup.We used the folding technique to fold all the ingredients altogether to make the rock shape.

Reading for Pleasure, Writing for Leisure

Today for Inquiry our class Rm 9 and Rm10 had to do a DLO:Digital Learning Object, about Reading for Pleasure,Writing for Leisure. It is all about what makes good Readers and Writers.

Yurts

YURTS

A yurt is a shelter used by farmers on the grassy Central Asia.The farmers and their families live in their yurts while they gather there animals. The yurt is a simple shape. It has a curved wall and roof that is shaped like a cone. The wooden frame for the wall is put up first. Ropes are pulled Tightly around the top of the frame to help keep it in position.The frame for the roof is put up next. Its has spokes that come from the Center  and join onto the wall. Then the frame is covered with a layer of felt. The felt is often made out of wool from the sheep in the farmer's flock. A yurt can be easily dismantled by the farmer when the animals need to be moved to better grazing land. Camels or yaks from the herd are used to transport the yurt to a new area. Then it is set up again. In some areas, laer yurts are used when people Gather for a special Meet such as weddings or other celebrations. A yurt is very useful because it can be moved easily from one place to another.

Painting the  Town

Painting the town is an article about Christchurch’s paintings on their buildings.In Christchurch there are some amazing paintings and there are a famous painting, the painting has a ballerina on it with a blue ballerina dress.  The artist names are: Wayne Youle ,Holly Ross, Owen Dippie and Olivia Laita. I think that they’ve been painting for 10 years or less ( I don’t know). Their inspiration for painting is when they were little they had people painting around them which made them love painting now. So now since they are older they paint everywhere around christchurch everyday now.
